Install MAX Desktop App
The browser extension works on its own. App installation is optional.
It's open-source, free to use, and completely private.
Step 1: Add the browser extension
Start here. The desktop app connects through the extension and cannot be used by itself.

Run the app once to self-register in the system. Successful connection will be shown in the extension under Status: Connected.
macOS
- Double-click the downloaded
.dmgfile. - In the window that opens, drag mvdcoapp.app into the Applications shortcut.
- Open Terminal (Finder -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal, OR open Spotlight, type "Terminal", press Enter).
- Run this command to bypass Gatekeeper:
What does this command do?
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/mvdcoapp.app" && open "/Applications/mvdcoapp.app"
Apple adds a quarantine attribute to apps downloaded from the web, preventing them from launching. This command removes that attribute and launches the app. The source code is published on GitHub if you want to inspect it first.
Windows
- Double-click the downloaded
.exeinstaller. - If SmartScreen appears: click More info -> Run anyway.
- Follow the setup wizard -> Install -> Finish.
Linux
- Autoinstall (recommended):
Run this command in terminal:curl -sSLf https://github.com/Suwot/mvd-coapp/releases/latest/download/install.sh | bash - Manual installation: Download tar.gz, extract anywhere (per-user only), and run
./mvdcoapp --installonce to register with installed browsers.
