We do not transmit any personal or sensitive user data off your device and we do not share it with anyone. The extension processes some browsing data (like URLs and network requests) locally only to detect playable media. None of this data leaves your device.

What We Don't Do

  • We do not run analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
  • We never transmit your usage data to our servers or third parties.

What We Do (Locally Only)

  • Detect videos on pages you visit by scanning network requests.
  • Manage downloads through your browser or the desktop app.
  • Store preferences and download history locally for your convenience (to re-download, etc.). It never leaves your device and you can clear it anytime.
  • Clear temporary detection data automatically when you close the browser.
  • Browsing data is used only to power the user-facing feature of detecting and downloading media, and never for ads, analytics, or data sales.

Browser Permissions & Purpose

These permissions enable video detection and downloads. They are used strictly for functionality, not tracking.

Permission Purpose
tabs Access the active tab and enumerate tabs when the extension is used so it can detect playable media on pages you visit (only when you interact with the extension).
webRequest, declarativeNetRequest, webNavigation Observe network requests and navigation events to detect HLS/DASH streams, follow redirects, and gather stream metadata needed to present download options (used only for detection and never for tracking or transmitting your data).
downloads Start and manage downloads in the browser and show them in the downloads shelf.
nativeMessaging Communicate with the local desktop app (CoApp) for advanced processing and use of the bundled FFmpeg - communication happens locally on your machine. Extension-desktop app communication stays on your device; Chrome's encryption-at-rest/in-transit requirement does not apply to local IPC.
storage Save preferences, settings, and download history only in your browser's local storage.
notifications Show download progress and completion notifications.
<all_urls> Host permission that lets the extension detect media across websites you visit when the extension is active on that site. Access is scoped to detecting media and activates only when you use the extension UI.

Data Security

  • All processing happens locally in your browser or companion app.
  • No data is sent over the internet or stored on our servers.
  • Removing the extension deletes all local data.

Our Website

This website (maxvideodownloader.pro) is hosted on Cloudflare for global performance and security. Cloudflare may collect minimal server logs (such as IP and browser type) as part of their CDN service. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. These logs are aggregated and not linked to your activity in the extension.

Website analytical data is only gathered with your explicit consent and is limited to website activity only.

Feedback Form

When you submit feedback through forms on the website, we collect the data you provide. This information is transmitted directly to our development team via secure channels and is used solely to improve MAX Video Downloader. Feedback data is not stored in databases or shared with third parties.

Your Rights

  • Access & Control: All extension data is visible and manageable through your browser.
  • Deletion: Uninstalling the extension removes all associated data.
  • Portability: You can clear or back up data via your browser's extension settings or tools.
