MAX Video Downloader is built to avoid unnecessary data collection. The extension detects media locally in your browser, and the optional desktop app processes downloads locally on your device.

Some limited data may be processed when you visit the website, use analytics-enabled pages, contact support, submit feedback, or purchase and restore Premium access. We do not sell personal data.

Extension Data

  • The extension observes page and network activity only to detect playable media and present download options.
  • Detection data, preferences, settings, and download history are stored locally in your browser unless you choose to send information to us through support or feedback channels.
  • The extension does not use your browsing activity for advertising, resale, or third-party profiling.
  • The optional desktop app is used for local media processing and does not require a separate account to run.

Browser Permissions & Purpose

These permissions enable media detection and downloads. They are used for product functionality, not for advertising or data resale.

Permission Purpose
tabs Access the active tab and enumerate tabs when the extension is used so it can detect playable media on pages you visit (only when you interact with the extension).
webRequest, declarativeNetRequest, webNavigation Observe network requests and navigation events to detect HLS/DASH streams, follow redirects, and gather stream metadata needed to present download options (used only for detection and never for tracking or transmitting your data).
downloads Start and manage downloads in the browser and show them in the downloads shelf.
nativeMessaging Communicate with the optional local desktop app for advanced processing. This communication happens locally on your device.
storage Save extension preferences, settings, and download history in your browser's local storage.
notifications Show download progress and completion notifications.
<all_urls> Host permission that lets the extension detect media across websites you visit when the extension is active on that site. Access is scoped to detecting media and activates only when you use the extension UI.

Website Analytics

The website may use analytics and performance tools such as Cloudflare Analytics, Google Analytics, Yandex Metrica, and Ahrefs to understand traffic, page performance, product interest, and marketing effectiveness.

Analytics are used for website improvement and business decisions. They are not used to sell personal data.

Premium Access and Payments

If you purchase or restore Premium, we process the minimum data needed to activate, maintain, restore, refund, and protect Premium access.

This may include your email address, Premium status, payment or order identifier, timestamps, and related technical records needed for security, fraud prevention, support, refunds, disputes, and legal or accounting obligations.

Payments are processed by Prodamus or another payment provider shown during checkout. We do not store bank card numbers.

Support and Feedback

When you contact us or submit feedback, we process the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, message, screenshots, error details, browser information, page URL, or other technical context needed to understand the issue.

This information is used for support, troubleshooting, fraud prevention, and product improvement.

Service Providers

We may use trusted service providers for hosting, security, analytics, payments, email, support, and database storage. These providers process data only as needed to provide their services to us.

Current categories include Cloudflare for hosting, security, analytics, and database infrastructure; Prodamus for payments; analytics providers for website statistics; and email or support tools for user communication.

Data Retention

Local extension data stays in your browser until you clear it or uninstall the extension.

Premium, payment, support, and technical records are kept only as long as needed to provide access, restore purchases, handle refunds and disputes, prevent abuse, improve the product, and meet legal or accounting obligations.

Your Rights

  • Access and correction: You can ask what personal data we have about you and request correction if it is inaccurate.
  • Deletion: You can request deletion of personal data where legally available. Deleting Premium account records may make it impossible to restore Premium access.
  • Local control: You can clear local extension data through your browser or by uninstalling the extension.

Children's Privacy

MAX Video Downloader is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

Changes

If our practices change, this page will be updated with a new “Last Updated” date. Continued use of MAX Video Downloader after updates means you accept the revised policy.
